I admit that when I was looking at the shakes and malts, this song was in my head. :) | What a cool book this is! I thought that this would be a straight out cookbook of sorts. And while half of it has the recipes for floats, sundaes, pies, all sorts of goodies, the first half is dedicated to the history of soda and the 'jerks' and all sorts of history about soda fountains. They really were a way of life and something to be experienced. I wish I could step back in time and sit at the counter and order something. Of course, I'd have to be careful of where I stepped back in time. Now, I'll teach you a little trivia that I learned from my book here such as why soda jerks are called "jerks". It's not because they're jerks, haha, it comes from how they'd 'jerk' their hand as they swung the fountain back and forth when adding the soda water. If you want to order a Vanilla milkshake, you can say to the jerk, "I want a white cow." There's a great deal of lingo that you'll pick up and you can't go wrong. I definitely intend to indulge soon and try some of these at home. I love all things vintage and I love ice cream. I have a terrible sweet tooth. Oh and soda, definitely a weakness for that too. The authors of the book, Gia Giasullo and Peter Freeman or Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain clearly have spent time perfecting these recipes and this is a labor of love. You can feel the love and dedication emanating from them in each word. And the pictures of everything? They'll have you drooling. Go out and grab this fantastic book!
